Sim's Bar-B-Que
About This Spot
Stepping into Sim’s Bar-B-Que feels like returning to a familiar neighborhood treasure—unfussy, steady, and quietly welcoming. The air carries a gentle hum of friendly chatter, and the faint, smoky scent of slow-cooked meat lingers as a warm invitation. It’s the kind of spot where the rhythm is relaxed but deliberate, a place built on decades of shared meals and community moments.
Inside, there’s a straightforward charm that doesn’t try too hard—no flashy decor or rushing servers, just the steady pace of good food prepared with care and served with an easy smile. The menu reflects this spirit well, focusing on tradition with dishes that invite you to savor and linger. Sides like classic potato salad or golden onion rings feel familiar, complementing the main dishes without pretension. The house-made touches, like old-fashioned cornbread and pepper-laced sauces, add just the right notes of nostalgia to the experience.

The steady flow of locals, the friendly nods from the counter staff, and the feeling of something longstanding and true make it more than a meal. Talk about paranoid. This place still offers no dine-in and requires masks. Anyways, let's talk about the Q. I ordered the pork rib plate that comes with 2 sides (I chose potato salad and onion rings) and 2 slices of bread. The sides were fine and the ribs were actually pretty good. They were fairly tender and they give you a large portion for the price. The equivalent of about 6-7 bones. I guess my only complaint is the sauce. It's bit too tangy for me and definitely on the thin side, like not nearly thick enough to stick to the ribs. I think on future visits I will ask for sauceless ribs and just put on my favorite commercial sauce. But some folks may like their house sauce so try it for yourself.

Dine in is available now, and you don't have to wear a mask. If you come here, get the ribs that's what they are known for. the BBQ sauce that comes on them is a vinegar based sauce. So if you don't like that you might want to ask for it on the side. I like it.

This was a $16 plate of lunch. The sausage was really tasty, although a bit overcooked. The pulled pork was chopped much finer than I expected, but still tasted nice. The portion size was very kind. The beans had a good flavor. The potato salad tasted like it came from a tub and was nothing different than you'll get most other places. The service was FAST and the counter staff were very friendly! I'll definitely go back when I'm in the area and craving BBQ. I want to give their ribs a taste... but it's nothing I'd go out of my way for.

While flying in to work for one day, the gentleman I sat next to recommended this place. It was a few miles from the work location so I gave it a shot. Food tasted great, I loved the greens, old school cornbread (not that cake-like texture stuff some pass off as cornbread lol). I got a pork sandwich dinner. Chopped pork had a great flavor, portion was plentiful. My only issue is there was no dining in, to go orders only. I ate in their parking lot in my rental car, so I carried it from their counter to my car just a few feet out the door. A to-go box, even handled gently was a big mess when opened. Glad I didn’t take it any further down the road.

Pulled pork, potato salad, and a fried peach pie. Love that Sims sauce with all the pepper and vinegar. Great food and service from a pillar of the community. The taste is the reason they been in business since 1937.

There is nothing that isn’t delicious on the menu. Hands-down the best barbecue. It’s not fancy and that’s a OK for me. I love their early dine chopped pork sandwich served in between two pieces of white bread. The chopped greens are delicious. southern goodness. A hidden gem

I and my sister love Sim's Bar-B-Que. Not just us, but every time I go there, it's always packed because the food is always good. The workers are friendly & very nice and they listen to us the customers. You can eat there or take it out. You're also able to call your order ahead of time. And they sell beer I never buy it. It's always clean in there, or I wouldn't eat from there. Just come on out and see for yourself the food is EXCELLENT. Oh, it's in Little Rock off John Barrow..
